Bolivia is a country in central South America, with varied terrain ranging from the Andes, the Atacama Desert and the rainforest in the Amazon basin. At more than 3,500 m above sea level, its administrative capital, La Paz, is located in the Andean Altiplano with the snow-capped Illimani mountain in the background. Nearby is the crystalline Lake Titicaca, the continent’s largest lake, which stretches along the border with Peru.
