Itinerary

Day 01: Uyuni - Train Cemetery - Incawasi Island - Coqueza.

Begin your Uyuni Salt Flats tour with a visit to the famous Train Cemetery, where historic locomotives from the early mining era of Bolivia stand as a reminder of the railway connection between Pulacayo and Antofagasta.

Continue to the village of Colchani, the gateway to the Uyuni Salt Flats, where local artisans demonstrate traditional salt processing and sell handcrafted salt souvenirs.

Enter the breathtaking Uyuni Salt Flats, the largest salt desert in the world (approx. 10,500 km²). Explore unique natural formations such as the Salt Eyes, Salt Pyramids, and the historic Salt Hotel (Playa Blanca).

Proceed to Incahuasi Island, a stunning volcanic rock formation covered with giant cacti in the middle of the salt desert. Enjoy a guided walk (entry required) and admire panoramic views over the endless white horizon of the Salar de Uyuni.

In the afternoon, continue north toward the Tunupa Volcano region. Experience a magical sunset over the salt flats before arriving in Coqueza village, located at the base of the Tunupa Volcano, where you will spend the night.

Day 2: Ascent of Tunupa Volcano - Uyuni

Start the day early with breakfast in Coqueza, located at the base of the impressive Tunupa Volcano. Begin your Tunupa Volcano trek, accompanied by a local guide, exploring high-altitude Andean landscapes, volcanic terrain, and unique geological formations.

During the ascent, you will visit ancient caves with pre-Columbian mummies and enjoy spectacular views over the Uyuni Salt Flats, offering one of the most breathtaking panoramas in Bolivia. This area is ideal for photography and observing the vast contrast between the volcano and the endless white desert below.

From the upper viewpoints of Tunupa Volcano, admire the incredible scenery of the Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flat. After enjoying the views and a packed lunch, begin the descent back to Coqueza.

In the afternoon, transfer back to Uyuni, arriving in the evening and concluding your 2 Day Uyuni Salt Flats & Tunupa Volcano tour.
