Start Time: 08:00 hrs (hotel pickup in La Paz) Your Tiwanaku full day tour begins with a private pickup from your hotel in La Paz. We travel across the scenic Altiplano toward Tiwanaku, enjoying views of the Andes Mountains and observing traditional rural life along the way.

(Optional on Wednesdays: brief stop at Quellani to visit a traditional cattle market.)

Upon arrival, we start with a visit to the Lithic and Ceramic Museums, where you will gain insight into the fascinating history of the Tiwanaku civilization, one of the most advanced pre-Inca cultures in South America.

We then explore the main archaeological complex, including the impressive Akapana Pyramid, Kalasasaya Temple, and the iconic Gate of the Sun. Throughout the site, you will see massive stone blocks, perfectly carved and assembled, as well as monoliths and intricate sculptures that reflect the spiritual and cultural richness of this ancient society.

After the guided visit, we enjoy a traditional lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we continue with a visit to Pumapunku, a mysterious sector known for its enormous and precisely cut stone structures, still a subject of archaeological debate. We also explore the ancient Sukakollos agricultural system, an innovative irrigation technique that allowed farming in the harsh Altiplano environment.

Before returning, we visit the local village of Tiwanaku, including a colonial church built using stones from the original ruins—offering a unique blend of ancient and colonial history.
