Itinerary

Day 1: San Pedro de Atacama to Hito Cajón (Not incluided).

Begin your Atacama to Uyuni cross-border tour at Hito Cajón, where you meet your local guide and enter the spectacular Bolivian Altiplano. From here, continue in a 4×4 vehicle through some of the most surreal landscapes in South America.

First stop is the stunning Laguna Verde, located at the foot of the majestic Licancabur Volcano (5,960 m). The intense green color of the lake, combined with the volcanic backdrop, creates one of the most iconic views of the Uyuni Altiplano region.

Continue your journey through high-altitude desert landscapes to the famous Laguna Colorada, known for its red waters caused by natural algae and plankton. This unique ecosystem is home to the rare James’s flamingos, as well as other Andean bird species, making it one of the most important wildlife spots in the Bolivian highlands.

On the way, explore the surreal Dalí Desert (Valle de Dalí), a volcanic landscape of unusual rock formations, and visit the Sol de Mañana geysers, an active geothermal area with fumaroles and boiling mud pools. You will also stop at the relaxing Chalviri hot springs, surrounded by breathtaking scenery.

In the afternoon, continue to Villa Mar, passing remote Andean landscapes and high-altitude lagoons. Arrival and overnight stay in a rustic mountain lodge.

Day 2: Villamar - Uyuni Salt Flat.

Continue your Atacama to Uyuni Salt Flats tour with departure from Villa Mar and journey towards the world-famous Uyuni Salt Flats, the largest salt desert on Earth.

On arrival, visit Colchani, the main gateway to the salt flats, where you will learn about traditional salt extraction methods and observe local artisans producing handmade salt crafts. This is one of the best places to understand the cultural and economic importance of the Salar de Uyuni.

Enter the vast white landscape of the Uyuni Salt Flats, a surreal natural wonder stretching over 10,000 km². Travel across the endless salt desert toward Incahuasi Island, a volcanic formation covered with giant cacti. Enjoy a guided walk and take in breathtaking panoramic views of the salt flats from the top of the island.

Lunch will be served in the middle of the Uyuni Salt Flats, surrounded by an incredible white horizon and unique reflections depending on the season.

In the afternoon, continue exploring the salt desert before heading back towards Colchani. Overnight at the famous Palacio de Sal Hotel, the first hotel in the world built entirely from salt, offering a unique Uyuni Salt Flats experience.

Day 3 : Colchani - Uyuni City.

After breakfast, depart from Colchani and make a short visit to Uyuni town, the gateway to the Uyuni Salt Flats tour, for a brief stop and final views of the area.

Continue your journey through the high-altitude Andean plateau, passing the mining village of San Cristóbal, known for its impressive open-pit silver mine and traditional Andean community life.

Travel onward through remote desert landscapes toward Culpina and enter the striking Stone Valley, a unique area featuring volcanic rock formations and dramatic scenery, ideal for photography and final highlights of the Altiplano route.

The journey continues toward the Chile–Bolivia border at Ollagüe, crossing one of the most scenic and isolated regions of the Andean highlands, with views of volcanoes and endless desert landscapes.
