Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Cusipata – Llacto – Rainbow – Cusco
The tour begins with a 4:00 AM pickup from your Cusco hotel, followed by a 4-hour drive through the South Valley, passing Inca terraces and traditional villages. Breakfast is served with alpacas and llamas for a unique Andean experience. The hike starts at Llacto (4,638m / 15,216 ft) along a stream with views of Ausangate Mountain and glaciers. Along the trail, you can interact with locals, learn about their traditional clothing, and pick up a few Quechua phrases.
After 1.5 hours uphill, you reach Rainbow Mountain (5,020m / 16,466 ft) for 30 minutes of exploration and photo opportunities. There is an optional 45-minute mini-loop hike to Red Valley. The descent takes about 1 hour, followed by a well-deserved lunch. Finally, a 3-hour drive returns you to Cusco, arriving at your hotel around 5:00 PM.
