Itinerary

Day 1: Calama –San Pedro de Atacama – Moon Valley.

Your Atacama Moon Valley 2 Days tour begins with a transfer from Calama Airport to San Pedro de Atacama, depending on your flight arrival. Around 15:00, we start this unforgettable Atacama Desert excursion in Chile.

The first stop is a panoramic viewpoint over the Cordillera de la Sal, where you can admire the vast Salar de Atacama, the active Volcán Lascar in the Andes, and the traditional Ayllus (oasis villages) surrounding San Pedro de Atacama.

We continue to the dramatic Valle de la Muerte (Death Valley), where you will enjoy stunning views of the iconic Volcán Licancabur (5,916 m), one of the most recognizable volcanoes in the region.

The tour then continues into the famous Valle de la Luna (Moon Valley), where we explore Salt Caverns, the iconic “Tres Marías” rock formations, and unique desert landscapes shaped by wind and time.

The experience ends with a spectacular sunset over the giant sand dunes, one of the highlights of any San Pedro de Atacama desert tour. After sunset, we return to San Pedro de Atacama around 19:30, completing an unforgettable first day in the Atacama Desert of Chile.

Day 2: Geysers of the Tatio tour and Machuca Hamlet.

Day 2 of your Atacama Moon Valley 2 Days tour begins with an early pick-up at 04:30 from San Pedro de Atacama, heading deep into the Andes for one of the most iconic high-altitude geothermal experiences in Chile at Géiseres del Tatio.

After approximately 1.5 hours of travel, we arrive at the geothermal field at sunrise, the best time to witness this natural phenomenon. At over 4,300 meters above sea level, you will see powerful steam columns, boiling water pools, and active geysers, created by underground volcanic heat interacting with groundwater—one of the most impressive Atacama Desert natural attractions.

During the guided visit along marked trails, you will explore the geyser field while learning about its volcanic origin. After the visit, we enjoy breakfast with panoramic views of the Andes and the geothermal landscape. There is also the opportunity to relax in a natural thermal pool, a unique experience in the high-altitude desert.

On the return journey to San Pedro de Atacama, we stop to observe and photograph volcanoes, vicuñas, cactus landscapes, and endemic Andean wildlife, offering incredible views of the Altiplano ecosystem.

We then visit the traditional Machuca village, known for its small church and local handicraft market, providing a glimpse into Andean culture in northern Chile.
