Itinerary

Day 1: Caimán Cocha

Start Time: 09:00 – 13:00 hrs (depending on arrival in Puerto Maldonado) Welcome to the Tambopata Amazon jungle tour in Peru with a reception at the airport or bus station, followed by a short city orientation in Puerto Maldonado.

Transfer to the port and begin your Amazon river expedition along the Madre de Dios River, where you may observe capybaras, caimans, turtles, herons, and cormorants in their natural habitat.

Arrival at the eco-lodge, welcome drink, check-in, and Amazonian lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided walk to Caimán Cocha, a wildlife-rich lagoon home to black and spectacled caimans. End the day with an Amazon sunset experience, dinner, and free time at the lodge.

Day 2: Sandoval Lake - Monkey Island

Start Time: 06:00 – 07:00 hrs (early departure from the lodge in Puerto Maldonado)The day begins with the natural sounds of the Amazon rainforest in Peru and a hearty breakfast at the eco-lodge before starting your Amazon jungle exploration adventure.

Sandoval Lake – Amazon Oxbow Lake Adventure After breakfast, begin a boat journey along the Madre de Dios River, followed by a guided rainforest trek to the entrance of Lake Sandoval.

Walk through primary Amazon rainforest for approximately 1.5 hours, observing giant trees, flora, and wildlife along the way. At the lake, enjoy a canoe ride on Sandoval Lake, one of the most important biodiversity hotspots in the Amazon. Spot parrots, toucans, caimans, turtles, and possibly the giant river otter (Pteronura brasiliensis).

Return by canoe and boat to the lodge for lunch.
Monkey Island – Amazon Wildlife Encounter

In the afternoon, take a short boat ride to Monkey Island, a unique Amazon wildlife observation area near the lodge. Observe different species of monkeys in their natural habitat, including capuchins, squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, and tamarins, as well as sloths, coatis, and tropical birds.

Amazon Sunset Experience & Dinner
End the day with a beautiful Amazon jungle sunset, followed by dinner and relaxation at the lodge.

Day 3: Departure

Start Time: 07:00 – 08:30 hrs (after breakfast at the lodge in Puerto Maldonado The final morning begins with the peaceful sounds of the Amazon rainforest in Peru.

Enjoy a farewell breakfast at the eco-lodge, then start your return journey by boat along the Madre de Dios River, followed by land transfer back to Puerto Maldonado city.

Arrival in Puerto Maldonado and transfer to the airport or bus station according to your departure schedule.
