Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Machu Picchu - Cusco

This is the day you’ve been waiting for! Your Machu Picchu train adventure begins with a hotel pickup in Cusco at 4:00 AM, followed by a private transfer to Ollantaytambo Train Station to board the 6:10 AM train. (If you prefer starting in Ollantaytambo, hotel pickup is 5:20–5:30 AM.)
As your train departs Ollantaytambo, enjoy the scenic journey through the Vilcanota River canyon, where steep canyon walls are covered in lush sub-tropical jungle. Along the way, spot ancient Inca terraces, some still farmed today.
Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, your guide will meet you at the train station. After a short break to grab a snack, take the shuttle up to Machu Picchu for a guided tour of the iconic Inca citadel. Over approximately two hours, explore the Temple of the Sun, Temple of the Condor, Temple of Three Windows, Sun Dial, Quarry, and House of the Inca. Learn how Machu Picchu is divided into agricultural, residential, and religious sectors, and enjoy breathtaking views of the Andes and cloud forest.

After the tour, descend by bus back to Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included). Depending on your train schedule, you may have time for shopping, sightseeing, or visiting the museum or hot springs. Your train departs at 14:55 or 15:20, following the Urubamba River with stunning canyon views, including sections of whitewater rapids and the chance to see Wiñay Wayna perched high on the canyon walls.

At Ollantaytambo, your private driver will meet you to return to Cusco, arriving at your hotel around 7:00 PM, concluding your unforgettable Machu Picchu day trip by train.
