Day 1 : Arequipa – Toro Muerto – Maje Valley – Chuquibamba – Pallarcocha. Coropuna’s base camp (5150 m)
Day 2 : Pallarcocha base Camp – Coropuna’s high camp (5554 m)
Day 3 Coropuna Summit Volcano (6425 m) back to Arequipa
Itinerary
Day1: Arequipa - Toro Muerto - Maje Valley - Chuquibamba - Pallarcocha.
At 6am. we leave from Arequipa in our private 4×4 going to the northwest of Arequipa, after 3 hours travelling buy car we will arrive at the agricultural valley of Majes (600M) where we will visit the Petroglyphs of Toro Muerto, located in the desert walls of this canyon. We will have 2 hours to locate more than a hundred of carved masses of volcanic rock with human, animals and plant figures that were work by the old civilizations of Peru over 1200 years ago.
We will visit the pre-Inca cemetery to see and get explanation about remains of the first human civilization of this valley. Continue travelling and ascending to Chuquibamba, nice green valley (3000M) there we will able to have lunch and then continue driving up to Andes on dirt road to get the first view of the southern face of mount Coropuna.
The next two hours will be driving and seeing this thirds highest mountain in Peru , This part of the trip includes to pass some nice Andean forest of Queñuas or Quiwiña (Polylepis), lot of local fauna as Llamas, Alapacas, Vicuñas, Guanacos, Condors, Andean fox, Andean eagle, Falcon and La Llareta (Azorella compacta).
Around 16.00hrs we arrive by 4×4 to the highest point of this trip which is name as Camp Pallarcocha (4800M) where we have camp then enjoy our delicius dinner under starry sky – Stay in tents (L – D).
Day 2: Pallarcocha base Camp - Coropuna base Camp (5200M)
This day we will wake up around 7am. for breakfast and then packing all our camping gear we start a nice uphill trek for about 4 hours to reach the second base camp (5200M) and get closer to Mount Coropuna – Today the way up will be gradual considered medium level and accompanied with nice scenery as view of Solimana peak.
Sep up the tents and you will get lunch and free afternoon to walk around to get more confidence with Coropuna Mount – Diner and stay in tents (B – L – D).
Day 3: Coropuna Summit Day - Arequipa
Lat Day at 1am. or 2am.we wake up to get hot an energetic breakfast and then everyone fix their climbing gear as crampons, ice axe, harness and rope (43° angle) The first 4 hours we will climb on the dark helped with light of our headlamps we take the southern east face to get one of the highest top.
of this massive mountain The climbing includes some section of small/big crevasse testing our climbing skills to avoid falls.The most common obstacle to overcome are the penitents all the way up. Around 5:45am. the first sunshine rise over other highest mountain around Coropuna making very nice and unforgettable memories of this climbing tour.
After 6 or 7 hours Aprox. of intensive/hard climbing we conquest the summit of this mountain and expend some precious minutes enjoying the Andean landscape around us.At mentioned time and following the instructions of the mountain guide we start the hardest part of the trip – The way back .
can be the hardest part physically for each participant we need relatively 3 or 5 hours to descend to the base camp. at 14.00 aprox after packing all camping gear descend to find the 4×4 and drive back to Arequipa for about 7 hours aprox Each participant will be drop of in their hotels in Arequipa.
Notes Itinerario
The climb is not technically difficult, but it is a high mountain and it is very important to be well acclimatized for the summit bid. This stand-alone program should be done after following an acclimatization period or as an add-on to any of our other programs in the region.

Recommendations:
To climb the Coropuna needs acclimatization and good physical conditions, also minimum training using the climbing equipment (crampons and ice axe) to reach the top. All the itineraries run from 3 days up to 6 days, there are to common routes; the first one is to go by Laguna Pallarcocha and to attack the south face,
the second one is by Maucallaqta village located on the northwest and from there to be accompanied by carried staff animals such as donkeys, this the easy way to the base camp located above 5300M. The mountains advice this option to get sure to reach the highest summit.

-Layers of synthetic thermal or merino wool, lightweight and midweight, at least some long-sleeved
-Fleece or soft shell jacket
-Gore-tex or equivalent jacket
-Down or synthetic fill jacket (for wearing around camp and possibly at rest stops or the summit)
-Thermal or merino long underwear
-Trekking pants, preferably wind resistant (eg, soft shell pants)
-Gore-tex or equivalent pants
-Thick socks, preferably wool (liner socks are useful to help avoid blisters)
-Woolly hat
-Liner gloves and outer gloves or mittens (should be Gore-tex with thermal fill)
-Cap or hat, preferably broad – brimmed, and suncream
-Glacier glasses with side protectors
-Headlamp with spare batteries
-First – aid kit including blister plasters, bandage, scissors, altitude sickness pills (consult a travel medicine specialist about these)
-At least 4 litres of water, chocolates, sweets, snacks, etc (something salty is good for replacing minerals lost through sweating, and loose sweets are good fpr maintaing energy while climbing)
