Day 1:
  1. Arrival and Welcome:

Itinerary

Day 1 - Cusco - Patacancha - Weaving - Agriculture

Our experiential tourism program in Patacancha starts after breakfast, agency staff will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco.
We head towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas by the route of Chinchero.
We will make a short stop at the Raqchi viewpoint to appreciate part of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Then we arrive to Urubamba to later arrive to Ollantaytambo where we will make a short stop to visit this beautiful town.
After 2:30 hrs. of travel we will arrive at our destination, the community of Patacancha.
The villagers will give us a very warm welcome with music, dances, and their typical costumes.
Then we will be given some typical costumes, and we will dress like the people of Patacancha.
We will be accommodated in the rooms of the families and we will get ready for our activities in Patacancha:

  1. Activity 1 “Weaving demonstration”. In this activity we will have the opportunity to learn the traditional techniques used in the preparation of their materials, the extraction of wool and the use of natural dyes, this activity is done by women.
    At the appropriate time we will have a typical lunch, it can be a Cuy to the firewood accompanied by the natural products of the community, or some other dish previous coordination with the agency.
  2. Activity 2 “Demonstration of agriculture”.This activity allows us to see firsthand the activities and ancestral techniques that the people of Patacancha perform in their chacras (farmland), we can also see their tools and even be part of these activities.
    Later we will be able to make a tour of the village and graze around the village of Patacancha, and return home with the livestock such as sheep, bacas and llamas.

    Bonfire at night with stories, myths that the family will tell you for the group.
    Rest in our rooms.

 

Day 2 –Patacancha - Pago a la tierra - Tika a la Alpaca - Pachamanca - Cusco

Nutritious breakfast in the house of the family that will be hosting us, this breakfast is prepared based on Andean cereals such as beans, quiwicha, cañigua, and toasted corn.
We head about 30 minutes further up to the village of Patacancha for our next activities:
Activity 3 “Pago la tierra”: We will get to know the mystical side of Patacancha, the payment to the land is a symbolic way of how the community and the families watch over their products and their animals through different Andean rituals passed down from generation to generation.
Activity 4 “Tinka a la Alpaca”: It is a small ceremony where the villagers thank the Andean deities, ask for a better production and that their animals are protected from any danger.
At the end of our activities we return to Patacancha where our lunch will be ready. The Pachamanca is a typical dish based on beef, chicken or other types of meat seasoned with ingredients such as huacatay, chilli, cumin, pepper and other spices, as well as additional original Andean products such as potatoes, sweet potato, corn, beans in pods and eventually, yucca cooked only on preheated stones which makes the taste different from the typical food of the city.
After lunch we return to Cusco.
On the way back we can stop at different viewpoints of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and take pictures to remember our trip through the land of the Incas.
Finally we arrive to the city and we will drop you off at your hotel in Cusco.
