Overview

The Salar de Uyuni is the largest continuous and high salt desert in the world, with an area of 10,582 km². It is located at about 3,650 meters above sea level in the southwest of Bolivia, in the province of Daniel Campos, in the department of Potosí, within the altiplanic region of the Andes mountain range.

Day 01: Hito Cajon - Perdiz‘s Eye (09:00 – 17:30

Contact and Reception at Hito Cajón, entrance to Parque Eduardo Avaroa, where we visited the White Lagoon, continuing to  Green Lagoon  , at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano (5919 m.a.s.l.) Dalí Desert with fabulous forms of ignimbrites, Visit to the thermal springs of Polques (bath in the medicinal waters), lunch in the route. Continuing ascends to 5000 m.a.s.l. Until the geysers of sun rise, volcanic craters with effusions of water vapor and heavy water, arrival at Colored Lagoon the most important site for the nesting of three kinds of South American flamingos, it’s ideal site for photographs by the beautiful panorama of reddish waters with Flamingos that fly over its surface, visit the formation of the Stone Tree. Arrival at the desert hotel.

Day 02: Perdiz‘s Eye – Tahua (08:00 – 17:30)

Breakfast and departure from the hotel through the Siloli Desert to the high plateau lagoons, where the Cañapa Lagoon and Smelly Lagoon stand out, for the flamingos that walk along the banks of the lagoons. Lunch en route. Continue the journey and visit a valley of petrified lava with formations that still show movement and allow you to imagine past events. From this point, admire the only semi-active volcano in the area, the Ollague Volcano. Continuing with the trip through unusual landscapes, and enter the Chiguana Salt Flat, a large borax deposit. Day 03: Tahua – Uyuni (08:00 – 17:30)

Before breakfast, enter the salt flat to observe the sunrise, return to the hotel for breakfast. We follow the tour of Incahuasi Island, walking in the middle of petrified coral, observing numerous millenary giant cactuses, from the top of the island you can see a wonderful panoramic landscape of the Uyuni Salt Flat. Then enjoy a lunch in the middle of this. Have an amazing photo shoot on a large salt plain where perspective is just a theory.
Find out why the Salar’s Eyes are boiling and see how salt is collected in the Salt Mounds.
Continue the journey to the town of Colchani. Walk through a rudimentary salt processing plant. Visit the small local market where you can buy salt crafts made by the locals. Arrival to Uyuni. Transfer Out. Airport or Hotel.
