Overview

The Canyon is formed almost at the end of the old bed of the “Dry River” or “Riachuelo” in its mouth with the Ica River, towards the Peruvian Sea, in the small sector “Chilcatay”. The name of the Canyon of the Lost ones, arises as a result of a visit that made the mayor Pablo Alvites jointly with some settlers and the journalist Maycol Herrera Benavides, they were lost, but in the end they managed to arrive to the mentioned canyon and the journalist Maycol Herrera decides to title this report as the “Canyon of the Lost ones” and from there in more it is denominated of this way.

Itinerary

6:00 – 6:30 AM. Pick up passengers at each of the hotels and then depart to Ocucaje. The route on the way is attractive, we will find beautiful natural landscapes that recreate the view and invites us to philosophy and imagination. It leads the visitor to the mouth of the river, in the hamlet of Callango.
This grandiose “Canyon of the Lost” is located in Las Pampas de Gamonal, following the route of the almost disappeared Rio Seco, which flows into the Ica River (at its mouth to the Pacific Ocean). The canyon has a depth of between 100 to 200 meters, consists of 3 levels, being found in the 2nd and 3rd. level small lagoons with green waters. Upon arrival, the Ravens or “Gallinazos”, zealous guardians of the Canyon welcome us with their classic ritual in the air. As we walk through the canyon we will observe “La Plaza Caracol”, “El Desfiladero”, “La cara del Puma”.
We will finish with a visit to the farm of Ocucaje where we will enjoy its thematic square, then returning to the city of Ica.
