Overview

The snow-capped Vallunaraju is one of the few peaks of the Cordillera Blanca that can be climbed from the city of Huaraz in two days and is considered a suitable mountain for those who are new to mountaineering or experienced climbers who wish to practice various techniques, crevasse rescue and ice climbing. Thus, the Peruvian Association of Mountain Guides (AGM) and the Guides’ House conduct annual safety and glacier courses on this mountain before the start of the season, aimed at the public.

Thus, the Peruvian Association of Mountain Guides (AGM) and the Guides’ House conduct annual safety and glacier courses on this mountain before the start of the season, aimed at the public.
The Nevado Vallunaraju, whose shape resembles a saddle, is accessed from Huaraz to the Llaca ravine. The ascent is a pleasant mountain adventure, with excellent views from all sides, such as the sunset from its moraine field, with pinks and blues that can be seen on the walls of Ocshapalca and Ranrapalca. Although classified as snowy with moderate ascent, its altitude and extensive approach to its summit make it a physically demanding mountain.
