Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer in Apto/ Hotel -Quito

Reception at Mariscal Sucre International Airport (Tababela), followed by a private transfer to your hotel in Quito. Upon arrival, hotel check-in and time to rest or begin acclimatization to the altitude (Andes highlands).

Day 2: Full Day Quito

07:30 AM – Start your day exploring Quito with a guided visit to the impressive Basilica del Voto Nacional, followed by a walking tour through the Historic Center, one of the best-preserved colonial areas in Latin America and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Continue visiting the main landmarks of the city, including Independence Square, El Sagrario Church, La Compañía de Jesús Church, and San Francisco Church, all rich in history, architecture, and cultural heritage.

Later, head to El Panecillo viewpoint to enjoy panoramic views of Quito and the surrounding Andean landscapes.

In the afternoon, visit the Middle of the World Monument located on the equatorial line, where you can explore the Ethnographic Museum and learn about Ecuador’s cultural diversity. Then continue to the Intiñan Museum for interactive experiments and unique equator experiences.

Return to your hotel in Quito for overnight rest.

Day 3: Tour Cuicocha Lagoon.

08:00 AM – After breakfast, depart from Quito towards the northern Andes, crossing the scenic Cayambe Valley, known for its snowcapped volcano and traditional Andean culture.

Continue to the Miralago Viewpoint to enjoy panoramic views of San Pablo Lake and the majestic Imbabura Volcano.Visit the famous Otavalo Market, one of the largest indigenous markets in South America, where the Otavalo community offers textiles, handicrafts, and traditional artwork. Free time for exploration and shopping.

Then continue to Peguche Waterfall, a sacred natural site surrounded by lush Andean scenery, with a short walk to experience local traditions and nature.

In the afternoon, visit the spectacular Cuicocha Lagoon, located inside the volcanic crater of Cotacachi Volcano, formed by ancient volcanic activity and known for its turquoise waters and dramatic landscapes.

Return to your hotel in Quito for overnight rest.

Day 4: Full day Cotopaxi

07:30 AM – Breakfast at the hotel in Quito, preparation for Andes adventure tour Ecuador and Cotopaxi National Park excursion. Departure towards Cotopaxi National Park, enjoying scenic Andes mountains landscapes and páramo ecosystems.

Arrival at Cotopaxi Volcano (5,897 m), one of the highest active volcanoes in the world, part of the classic Ecuador volcano route tour.

Visit to Limpiopungo Lagoon, ideal for nature photography and high-altitude landscapes.

Hike to José Rivas Refuge (4,800 m) with optional ascent depending on weather conditions and acclimatization.

Descent and transfer to Latacunga for hotel check-in and rest.

Day 5: Visit to Quilotoa

07:00 AM – Early departure for a high-altitude Andes adventure tour Ecuador towards the spectacular Quilotoa Lagoon, one of the most famous volcanic crater lakes in South America.

Visit a local indigenous market (depending on fair days in Zumbahua) and continue through Tigua village, known for its traditional naïf paintings on sheep leather and Andean cultural art.

Arrival at Quilotoa Lagoon, a turquoise volcanic crater lake formed by mineral and sulfur deposits. Begin a 40-minute descent walk to the lagoon viewpoint surrounded by dramatic Andean landscapes.

Optional activities include kayaking in the crater lake or horseback riding for the return ascent.

Continue the journey to Baños de Agua Santa, a popular adventure destination in Ecuador.

Arrival at Ingapirca Archaeological Complex, the most important pre-Columbian site in Ecuador, associated with the Inca and Cañari civilizations.

Guided visit of the site, including the famous Temple of the Sun (El Castillo Ingapirca), an impressive elliptical structure used for ceremonial and astronomical purposes.

Continue to Biblián to visit the Santuario de la Virgen del Rocío, including its museum, crypts, and panoramic viewpoints.

Departure towards the city of Cuenca, known for its colonial architecture and cultural heritage.

Visit Lluviucu (3,100 m) with a gentle hike through scenic nature trails, then continue to Tres Cruces viewpoint (4,160 m) for panoramic Andes views.

Explore Toreadora Lagoon and its Interpretation Center, followed by a short hike in the Polylepis Forest of San Luis, known for unique high-Andean flora.

Day 9: Cuenca – Guayaquil.
