Itinerary
Day 1: Arequipa- Chivay – San Miguel – San Juan de Chucchu
We will pickup you at your hotel around 3:00 or 03:30 am. We will leave Arequipa in our vehicle travel 3 hours. Around 06:00 am we get Chivay village the Capital Colca Valley where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast. After that we will travel to Cruz the Condor (Condor cross) its one and half hours.
Where we will see Andean Condor flying, one of the world’s largest flying bird offers a truly breath taking show for all visitors, it is important to be as early as possible in order not to miss the spectacular nature show.
We will continue for a further 20 minutes and stop at San Miguel viewpoint this is where we start hiking adventure to descending 3 hours to colca river at 2200 (7,217.8 feet) of altitude.
The trail offer us spectacular dropping views of canyon walls we will pass through a hanging bridge to cross the Colca river until the village of San Juan de Chucchu, at 2,660 m (8,727 feet) of altitude here we will have lunch, after lunch you will have time to explore the viallge and its farms on your own if we have a good luck we may be part of local activities, we will have the dinner and rest for the next day.
Day 2: Cosñirhua - Oasis Sangalle
Today our destination will be the Oasis of the Colca Canyon. The hike features excellent scenic narrow trails of the canyon and jaw dropping views, as well as giving us the opportunity to travel through the cultural small villages of Cosñirhua and Malata then we will arrive at the Oasis “Sangalle” 2,200 m (7,217.8 feet) of altitude.
This place is considered to relax; here you will enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by your tour guide and have the opportunity to enjoy its entire green relaxing environment and natural spring pools at the bottom of canyon. Here we will have the afternoon to enjoy at your leisure and spend your second night in huts.
Day 3: Yanque – Chivay - Arequipa
In order to avoid hiking under the hard morning sun our day will start at 4am. we will take a steep trail for approx. 3 hours to the village of Cabanaconde, breakfast will be provided here. You will then meet our private transportation and make your trip back to Chivay.
we will make some stops along the way, one to the Cross of condor and unique picture viewpoints of the Colca Canyon with its outstanding pre-Inca terraces along the valley.
You will arrive to traditional village of Yanque, here you will have the chance to enjoy the hotspring pools known as “Chacapi” which are located next to the Colca river offering an astonishing view of the Canyon. You will then have time for lunch. After that we will travel back to Arequipa city , we ill arrive to Arequipa around 5pm
